Well if you haven’t heard yet – I’m in the market for a new car. I’m looking for something a bit more gas efficient then my Toyota Sienna Mini Van and with my oldest 2 kids in college now and only 2 younger ones left in the home we’re actually considering downsizing since we’re aren’t in need of that much space anymore. Check out my hubby with the car in the image above.
Well I’ve been given the awesome opportunity to test drive 3 REALLY awesome vehicles for a week at a time and I’d like to share those reviews with you because sooner or later you’ll need a new car too (eveyone will at some point in time). The 3 vehicles I’m test driving right now are;
- 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE AWC
- 2014 Kia Sorento SX AWD
- 2014 Kia Forte LX
These are all awesome vehicles but each one is just a bit different and meets different needs for different families. Let me 1st tell you about my 2014 Kia Forte LX. That was my 1st week long test drive experience and I was in heaven!
This car has 4 doors which is great so the kids can jump in and out on their own now. It has a lovely clean dash that is easy to navigate and read day or night. I like that. The night time interior dash lights were red – a great contrast for easy night-time viewing.
The gas mileage was nice too. Instead of filling up after about 5 days driving my van I made it a full 7 days on 1 tank of gas. So, that means I was able to make it 2 additional days doing the same running around with the kids (dance classes, Boy Scouts etc). Ok so lets do the math on that for a minute….. 2 days times 52 weeks in a year = 14 weeks of gas savings. That is HUGE for my budget minded family. HUGE!
The car handles nicely too. Corners were smooth and for a smaller car it still had plenty of pick up for pulling on to highways, passing etc. Plus, parking was easy. This was also my 1st vehicle that I’ve ever driven with the new built in GPS system along with the back up camera. Makes me wonder how I ever lived without it before. It was sooooo much easier than pulling the GPS out of my glove box (in my family van) plugging into the cigarette lighter etc.
My hubby liked the Kia Forte too. “Not too girly” as he says (meaning its a good car for guys and gals ;-)) We spend so much time in our cars that it’s important to have the features and things that you need. Even though I’m a stay at home mom I’m running kids all over the place. It may be just another day in the life of a mom to you but to me I know that by the end of the year I’ve probably spent a few weeks in my car. That is quite a bit of time in my life. So, I’d say that this Kia Forte gets a 5 Star review for convenience, comfort and overall quality from my household. Way to go Kia Forte.
