Life is so funny…. the more wisdom you gain as you age, the better and easier life becomes. I remember leaving high school and feeling like I didn’t know much of anything…. I didn’t know I could have made a small down payment and purchased a home on credit, I’d never opened a checking account or written a check so I didn’t know how, I wasn’t always a good friend, I didn’t know how to purchase a new car…. The list went on and on! There were so many real world experiences that I had to learn by doing instead of being taught best practices in school (or at home for that matter). Maybe that is one of the reasons I’m homeschooling. I want to better prepare my kids for life, share my wisdom and help them to be happy people, confident consumers and well adjusted. Life already has a BIG learning curve so why not make it shorter? Below you’ll find my list of top 5 random things to make your life as a mom easier!
- Put spices in your children’s food as soon as they’re old enough to eat baby food! Oh, the struggles I’ve had over the years getting kids to eat…. I could write a book on the ways kids refuse food. 4 kids later I wish I had started this with my 1st child…. Sprinkle chili powder, turmeric, cinnamon…. anything you can think of and you’re kiddos will grow up already loving spiced up different cultural and ethnic foods!
- Cure dry hair and dry feet with grape seed oil! This oil is a blessing to the universe! It’s super easy to wash out (unlike say mineral oil for example) and it’s such a fabulous and healthy moisturizer too! Every few days when I know I’m going to be home for the morning and afternoon I add grape seed oil to my hair, shoes, and under my eyes. Grapes seed oil doesn’t clog pores or cause acne and it washes out of hair with 1 shampoo (no greasy residue) and works wonders on dry heels when used in sneakers (I have wood floors don’t walk with grape seed oil on your carpet!)
- Understand that as you grow and change so do your friends! I guess for some reason I thought I’d have the same friends my entire life and I do have 1 friend that I’m still very close with since I was 12 years old however, the truth is that many friends will change over time. People grow in different directions spiritually, politically and with kids too. It’s totally okay.
- Live below your means! Never charge your life away…. there’s no car or house worth it! There are so many pressures on people to have a better body (yes people charge plastic/cosmetic surgery), a nicer home, the newest car etc but the truth is you are great with or without those items. If you find yourself making comments like, “she shouldn’t be wearing those pants” than you are part of the problem and you may have some soul searching to do because we are much more than our bodies, cars and houses!
- There’s NEVER a reason to suffer! We are all 100% in charge of our lives and everything in our lives we have attracted and created. The sooner you accept responsibility for your life the sooner you can change it.
