5 Tips to Help Mom Feel Better
Oh no, it’s one of those days again. The house is a wreak, the kid’s homework isn’t done, you’ve got a million and one things to do, and not a moment to spare. We have all experienced this, your schedule is packed and the stress is starting to turn you into Momzilla. Take a deep breath and remember that stress is a state of mind achieved by focusing on lack (or any derivative thereof) and happiness and peace are a state of being. Always focus on the state of being, as anything else is temporary and not the way God created you. Matthew 5:48 “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Now, to help combat the chaos here are a couple ways for you to bring yourself back into focus.
1) Yoga/Meditation – Even if it’s only for 30 minutes, yoga can be a great way to help you clam down during or after a stressful day. There are plenty of how to video or simply lay on the floor and put on some soothing music and stretch every part of your body. You’ll be amazed at how much better you’ll feel.
2) Read A Book – A few minutes reading a good book is a way to wind down and de-stress yourself. Sit outside with your kids while you read and they play, everyone is happy.
3) Take A Bath – A warm bath with candles and soft music is an example of stress relief at its finest. Especially if you take it after the kids go to bed. See my quick recipe for 5 minute bath scrub here.
4) Taking A Walk – A little bit of light exercise never hurt anyone, and in the long run it could really help with your stress levels and the kid’s energy levels. There’s just somethin about moving your body and appreciated the nature that you see around you during your walk that rejuvinates the soul. While walking focus on all that good to the exclusion of all else.
5) Take A Nap – Probably the best way to calm down during a stressful day. The best amount of times to take a nap is 90 minutes, your body goes through a full REM cycle and your alertness, concentration, and energy levels get replenished leaving you with a quick way to get a fresh outlook hence the saying, “Sleep on it.”
