Well we were invited to a harvest party today so I wanted to show you what I made in the kitchen with my 3 year old – Harvest party brownies. Check out my easy Harvest party brownie recipe. Keep kids in the kitchen!
I just used a box mix for my brownies – Pillsbury. To make the brownies more chewy I used more oil (like coconut or vegetable) and no water to give them a better consistency. Coconut oil is my favorite for brownies. It is healthier AND it gives them a great flavor. You can’t taste the coconut (just in case you’re wondering) but it does make them a bit sweeter.
I lined my pan with parchment paper.
Added my brownie box mix.
Removed the entire slab of brownies from the pan because it was easy since I baked on the parchment paper.
My 3 year old LOVES to bake, make and cook in the kitchen. I always remember my mother telling us all to “get out of the kitchen” and I swore I’d keep my kids in the kitchen having fun. Now don’t take pity on me because my mom had 6 kids was some how able to get a full meal on the table every night without fail. Me – I just have 2 little ones left so there’ s a big difference. I image 6 kids would be much more overwhelming! ☺ Here is a link to some great fall leaf cookie cutters – image above. I really, really like and suggest this set!
Added happy faces with orange icing to make them cute for the kids. I just used butter, confectioners sugar and a few drops of water and a couple drops of orange food color. I mixed it up, placed it in a plastic baggie then snipped off the end so we could squeeze it out to make the faces on the brownies. Easy and cheap!
And off we go to the party with my Wilton 3 in 1 carrier. This thing is great. It has a cupcake holder in it too and the top locks into place. If you don’t have one be sure to put in on your Christmas list! Enjoy! Happy harvest! ☺
