I start planning way in advance! When I see something on sale that my kids might need, I stock up. In early August there are lots of ‘back to school” sales on school supplies so I make sure to buy enough notebooks, pens, paper…etc… to last the year. I also appreciate the tax free holiday and try to make my bigger clothes and shoe purchases at that time. Maryland is having tax free later in August and now I happen to be on vacation in SC and their tax free days begin today! I am excited that I will be able to shop twice!

start talking about how school is going to go long before it starts, talk about lunches, breakfasts, schedules etc. already on your facebook – love your site

(1) I “converted” a magnetic write on/wipe off monthly calender to a weekly one by making each row on the left going down a different family member. We write EVERYTHING each person has going on that week, each person has a different colored marker.
(2) Each child has their own “color” of hangers. (we hang alot of clothes up). Then all they have to do is “grab” their hangers when they put laundry away.

My mom always taught us to get ready the night before so we pack lunches, get clothes laid out and have back packs all packed the night before school so we are ready on time

Always talk with your child when they come home from school about their day. Ask them about any nervious moments, happy moments, sayd moments.

I ask for a meeting with my kids teachers in the beginning of the year and don’t wait until parent teacher conference time. Then I know what is going on all year and no surproises
