If you are looking for some easy back to school breakfast ideas then you’ll love this recipe for homemade instant oatmeal.
You can take your homemade instant oatmeal to hotels to use in the microwave to save money on breakfast, or on a camping trip or just use it at home as your transitioning a child to become more independent with their morning routine. I think these are GREAT for back to school breakfasts.
Homemade Instant Oatmeal Recipe
- 1/4 Cup Quaker Quick Oats
- 1 tblsp Domino brown sugar
- 1 tblsp Carnation instant dry milk
Add approximately 3 – 4 tablespoons hot water or microwave as you would your instant oatmeal packs. I like to make my instant oatmeal ahead of time and pack in a hefty baggie so everything is all measured out. For a diet version of my instant oatmeal just omit the milk and switch to Domino light sugar. You likely won’t notice the difference.
If you’re helping a child start making their own breakfast in the mornings then you would just measure out the ingredients and place them in a bowl orchildren’s mug the night before with the tablespoon next to it for adding water. Be SURE to purchase quick oats and not a 3 minute cooking time oatmeal for this recipe.
