Wondering about what you’ll make for the holidays this year? Well I have
some great Thanksgiving dinner menu ideas. A have some REALLY easy recipes that won’t take too long but they’ll have great flavor and will leave your guests raving – I promise!!! Now I’m sure you have some family favorite that you’re planning on making but here are 3 great dishes that I’m well known for in my family.
Well the 1st thing we need to do it talk turkey – No really! A turkey wrapped in bacon is SURE to come out moist and delicious. This was really easy to do. This bacon wrapped Thanksgiving Turkey was absolutely delicious and even my kids liked it! That is a big deal to make everything Thanksgiving family friendly because I have some picky eaters in my crew for sure! LOl
So I used about 2 lbs of bacon on this large 24lb Thanksgiving turkey. I rinsed the turkey 1st then I placed it in the pan and began draping the bacon on to the turkey systematically until every portion of the bird was covered. Then bake as usual. Your Thankgsiving turkey comes out very flavorful and moist too!
If you have any stuffing lovers in your house then you have to try this recipe for Cranberry Sausage Stuffing. It is also good for Eastern Dinner Recipes too! Its so easy to make and absolutely delicious! This is also an excellent Easter dinner recipe that you can make in advance so you aren’t so busy on Easter afternoon cooking.
1 lb Ground breakfast sausage (hot, sage, mild etc – doesn’t matter, any brand however I prefer Bob Evans Sage)
1 Can Jellied Cranberry Sauce (usually a 15 oz can I prefer whole berry kind)
1 Box Stove Top Stuffing (I usually use Stove top because there are so many coupons for it & it tasts great)
butter or margarine
1 Cup Water
Optional Egg to help the balls stick together (like a food glue)
Fry up the ground sausage and drain off any excess grease. Add water, stuffing mix, 3/4 can cranberry jelly. Mix well and form into balls or bake in a plain baking dish. Freeze or refrigerate (or bake if you are ready to bake). Drizzle with butter or margarine when you bake at 360 Degrees for approximately 20 minutes. Serve warm.
These freeze or refrigerate really well if you want to prepare thi dish in advance. That will save you time on Thanksgiving day PLUS many people run into the problem of their oven being full so this will help alleviate that issue as well. You could also just plop this is a casserole dish and bake and forget about forming them into balls like I do. Do not add any extra water as you would if you were preparing the Stove Top Stuffing and following the directions on the box.
I think of potatoes as a comfort food. Everyone in my home loves to eat them and considering that I have some very picky eater here at my home that is a big deal. So this makes this soup the PERFECT compliment to a nice Thanksgiving dinner menu. So, I have the most delicious and easy Scalloped Potato Soup Recipe for you. You’re going to absolutely love it and you’ll be amazed at how easy it was to make. This is one of my fastest and delicious soup recipes my relatives just rave whenever I make it. It’s another item that you can make the day before and then just warm on the stove or in a crockpot on Thanksgiving Day.
Scalloped Potato Soup Recipe Ingredients:
- 4 to 5 cups Milk (whole milk makes it thicker, creamier but if you’re going for a low fat version use skim or 1% or 2%)
- 1 Box Scalloped Potato Mix by Betty Crocker
- 1 Can Green Giant Sweet Corn
- 1/2 lb of Bacon
- 4-6 tbsp Butter
Fry your bacon before hand (or bake your bacon here). Now, in a 6 quart pan or crock pot (just anything large enough to hold the soup) add your milk, box of Betty Crocker Scalloped potatoes, canned corn and butter on low heat stirring to avoid scalding and burning your milk. After your potatoes have softened in the warm milk turn to medium heat and continue to stir just enough that nothing sticks but not so much that you make all of your potatoes mushy. Crumble, then add to soup. Continue stirring and keep on heat until potatoes are soft to eat. Soup is delicious and really easy to make! You will love it!
This soup is relatively inexpensive to make especially if you buy your bacon and ingredients on sale.
