Fresh N’ Greens Locations Closing – Savings Galore!
It was announced last week that all of the Maryland Fresh N Greens Supermarket locations are going to be closing at the end of the month. A friend of mine lives in Cambridge and reported her dismay at this, because the store had a generous coupon policy: they allow a limited number of internet coupons, and also double coupons up to $0.99, which is not typical nowadays. Fresh N Greens Stores are located where Super Fresh Markets used to be in Cambridge, Arnold, Brunswick, and Chestertown.
Most items are currently 20% off, with some departments as discounted as 50% off. Mexican and Asian grocery items are a good bargain at 40% off, because they are both pretty shelf-stable types of foods. Fresh produce is even included – unheard of to get savings on fresh fruits and vegetables most of the time!
There will be some decent deals to be found, so if you live near one of these stores, you should take your coupons in and see what you can still find on the store shelves. My friend was informed that the coupon policy has not changed, and they are in fact still accepting coupons. Here are a couple of examples of ways you can score some decent savings….which you can definitely make use of this holiday season:
~ If you printed the Old El Paso coupon last month for $.60 off any 3 items, it will double to $1.20 off. Taco shells are $2.79, less 40% store-closing discount, for a price at the register of $1.67. Buy three and use your coupon, and spend just $3.82 on three boxes of taco shells!
~ Currently, there is a printable coupon for $.75 off two Betty Crocker baking mixes or frostings. These run between $1.59 for frosting and $3.39 for high-end desert bar mixes. Let’s say you buy one of each. These items are currently running 20% off, which means $3.98…so with your coupon doubling to $1.50, you’d spend $2.48 for both products. Not too shabby.
Remember, make sure you have your coupons in hand and be prepared to do a little mental math, because even at 20% off, not everything will be a great savings. However, with a little time and some coupons, you can take advantage of some good store-closing bargains. It is an excellent time to use up some coupons that are over $.50 but less than $1.00 in value, since they don’t double high value coupons at many area stores.
If you find a particularly good deal at Fresh N Greens, please send me a comment with what coupon you used and what store location you found the item at, so I can share with others. We can all afford to save a little extra wherever possible!

I was there today (12.20) in Cambridge and most stuff is 40% off. Shelves pretty bare but got good deal on Texmati rice. Had $2 coupon off discount price $4.23. Also had $1 coupon for Clif bars which they doubled so got 5 for .23 each. But without coupon not so great. Things seem to be marked way up– saw box nature valley granola bars for $4 and change. So discounted price would compare to sale price at Safeway. They still had women disposable razors, shampoos which could be good w coupon.
