I’ve always been big on keeping kids in the kitchen while I cook and this week was no different. My daughter, also known as my little helper, once again wanted to get creative and make a new dish so we decided to have some fun and make this very easy stuffed cheesy bread recipe with a round loaf
of artisan style bread I had purchased from my local Giant Food in the bakery section. This recipe is so simple and easy you too can make it with your 5 year old and it tastes absolutely delicious!
Easy Stuffed Cheesy Bread Recipe;
Needed:
- Round loaf bread (artisan quality style, sourdough is fine)
- Cheese – Provologne block or Mozerella block
- Pepperoni (optional we did 1/2)
- Tomato Sauce (we used Tuttorosso seasoned sauce)
Directions: Cut your round loaf like you would a pizza but down’t cut completely through leaving the very bottom together in tact. Make a small shallow spot it the middle of your round loaf or the sauce the add when your loaf is finished baking.
Slice your block of cheese and place 1 slice in between each wedge.
Now if you’d like to add pepperoni to give your bread a little kick this is the time to do so. We decided to make 1/2 pepperoni and half plain cheese. Just dice your pepperoni and in between the cheese and the bread wedges.
Bake in your oven at about 400 degrees for 8 to 12 minutes until cheese is melted and bread has a slight crusting but isn’t burnt.
Now add your seasoned tomato sauce to the center.
If your can is cold you may like to warm up the sauce before spooning into the middle of your loaf. OPTIONAL: Add pepper and garlic to your sauce (to taste).
Pull apart each wedge and enjoy with your meal or as a fun snack on it’s own. It is delicious!
Here is what the finished product looks like.
