5 Savvy Savings Tips for spring – Yes, if you fell off course after the new year it’s not too late to start saving and being more practical.
So many people get discouraged about saving money but if you follow some simple, common sense tips, you’ll make a difference in your bottom line before you know it. These great tips are compliments of Capital One, of which I’ve been a HUGE fan now for about 10 years. I know many financial gurus suggest moving to all cash but years ago we moved to paying for everything with a credit card, specifically Capital One. Now, I’m excited to announce that we’re planning a trip to the Grand Canyon thanks to CapitalOneVenture.com. We have saved enough points for 4 round trip tickets FULLY PAID! All we did was change our bill paying habits – it was that simple! Over the years the points added up and boom – Heading to the Grand Canyon and checking off one BIG thing from my life “bucket list.”
So, keep your chin up. Small changes matter……!
- Start a rainy day fund. Many people expect tax refunds this time of year, which is a perfect opportunity to jumpstart your savings. By depositing all or at least a portion of your tax refund into your savings account, you can grow your savings cushion for the year.
- Find a savings plan that fits you. You’ve been meaning to open an account, and now is the time! Choose a product with a great return rate, like the Capital One 360 Savings Account, which also comes with helpful features like My Savings Goals to keep you focused on your financial goals.
- Get rid of recurring expenditures that seem non-essential, like a gym membership you never use, an extra phone line or high-end cable channels.
- Take advantage of pre-tax savings opportunities, such as an employee-sponsored retirement savings plan. Many employers match your contributions in whole or part.
- Save regularly with the Capital One 360’s Automatic Savings Plan, making it easy to get into a routine of putting aside money. This tool helps you meet your savings goals without any effort. You determine how much and how often, then watch your savings grow.
