Oriental Trading Product Review

Can I just say again…?  I LOVE ORIENTAL TRADING!!!   They  have so many great decorating and crafting ideas for any occasion.  I love that their catalogs give your ideas and group the themes together.  Easy shopping, that’s the way this busy mom likes it – especially in the back to school season when you’re volunteering for the next school project.

Most of the time I have multiple projects going on at once so I don’t always order my items in a timely manner.  One of the things that I appreciate about Oriental Trading is that they have fast shipping.  I typically get my items within a week. Being the frugal mom that I am, I always make sure that my order qualifies for the free shipping.   I’d much rather have my money go into buying product, even if I don’t need it yet, than to pay for shipping fees.

This time my order included:

• Washi tape – who can’t find a use for the decorative washi tape?!   It has tons of uses but I used it to            embellish some of the costumes for our school play and it worked marvelously.   No one in our group is a seamstress and we only needed the costumes for one performance so washing them was not an issue.  The washi tape was the perfect, economical, and quick solution and in such beautiful colors.
• Super Value Paint Brushes – these were used to paint the backdrops for our school play.  The wide variety in width and style of brushes allowed us to do the large building and detail work of the scenery.
• Tye Dye Kit – This is so much fun and easy.  In no time you can have a practical piece of art that you created.  The kids love doing it and seeing how their shirt turned out.  It is also a great lesson in mixing colors.  We are making t-shirts for our home school group.  This will make the kids easy to recognize on field trips and group events.
• Bright Neon Bags – I think the colors are so vibrant and the bags are very versatile – they can be used for a number of things.  My plan is to use them as goody bags for the kids and decorate the outside of them with stickers and drawings to suit the occasion.
• Disc Drop Game – I saw this in the catalog, not necessarily looking for a game but it looked like so much fun and reminded me of the Bob Barker “Let’s Make a Deal” game ( I think he called it “Plinko”). I just had to have it!  I plan to bring this out at ALL of our parties and offer prizes based on different scores.
• Rubber Cement – I know it doesn’t sound exciting but we always have need for rubber cement.  I have found that it is one of the only glues that work really well for lapbooking.  Some of those papers and mini books can be thick and they get lots of use as the kids look over what they have done.  Rubber cement works really well at keeping the books attached.  The added bonus is the brush applicator which helps eliminate the glue puddle that little ones tend to do.

That’s it for this order but I am sure that I will post more in the future!  I can always look through their catalog and find something I have a use for.   If you have children, Oriental Trading   is a must – they have resource for birthday parties, holiday parties and general craft supplies.   Happy Shopping!!!!
