Kids Halloween Party Food Ideas – “Eyes of newt, tongue of toad eat these Halloween cookie spiders or you’ll grow old!” Okay that was so much fun to say that at our Halloween party last weekend while I was dressed in my witch costume!!! Would you like this simple recipe for these Halloween cookie spiders? They’re simple, fun, and delicious (that is important so you don’t have a ton of them leftover after the party!)
Ingredients for Halloween Cookie Spiders
- black icing
- brown sugar 3/4 cup
- white sugar 3/4 Cup
- regular or self rising flour 2.5 cups (I generally do 1/2 self rising 1/2 regular or you can use all regular and 1 tsp baking powder)
- vanilla 1 tsp
- butter 2 sticks
- eggs 2
- Whoppers 1 package
- Candy eyes 1 package
Note: Healthier option – use coconut oil instead of butter, organic flour, sugar and free range organic eggs
Directions for cookie spiders: Cream butter sugar, vanilla, and eggs. Add flour slowly. Bake normally (if your cookies have too much spread add flour to your mixture so they spread less) As cookies come out of oven take a spoon and push down in the center.
After cookies cool ad a line of black or brown icing to the center of the cookies then place 2 Whoppers on the icing (icing is to keep Whoppers in place) remembering that you use 2 because spiders have a segmented body.
Now add 2 lines of black icing off of each Whopper (see pictures) for your spider legs. Allow to dry
Now add a dot of icing and place 2 eyes for your cute spider eyes. Allow to dry – now display and eat!
