Saving energy in my home can feel like a mountain you can’t climb. However, getting that electric bill every month doesn’t have to be anxiety ridden. I have found some easy ways you can save energy at home with little to no effort. Check out some of these tips that won’t take you long at all and are a great way to start your Earth Day resolution:
- Make sure the windows and doors are closed: When it comes to your home, it’s so easy to leave the windows and doors open. Not only should you close them for safety reasons, but also to save money on your energy bill.
- Open the curtains: Instead of leaving your curtains closed all of the time, open the curtains and let the sunlight in your home. For once, you can turn off the lights and save some money by enjoying the sunshine. This is a win-win situation for you and your energy bill.
- Lyric Round™ Wi-Fi Thermostat – Second Generation from Honeywell: This is one of my favorite ways to save energy at home with little effort. The Lyric Round™ Wi-Fi Thermostat is an awesome thermostat that you can have in your home to make your life easier. Here are some of the great features of this smart thermostat.
The Lyric actually adapts to your life! You can control it from anywhere, including your smartphone (awesome feature!) It basically gives you comfort when you’re home and saves you energy when you’re away. It’s designed so your life can be super easy. It has a simple touch screen that anyone would love. The Lyric actually sends you notifications whenever the temperature changes. That means you get a notification when the temp is too high or too low. Lyric allows your home to be the perfect temperature ALL THE TIME. With intelligent comfort control, the temperature feels just right, all the time.
Installation of the Lyric Round™ Wi-Fi Thermostat is also super simple. My husband isn’t exactly what I’d call a “handy man” but he was able to install the Lyric easily (see images). One of the reasons I love it so much. You simply need to see if it’s compatible with your home The Lyric thermostat works with common 24-volt systems such as forced air, hydronic, heat pump, oil, gas and electric. Not sure what system you’ve got? Watch the video to find out more. Keep in mind that it doesn’t work with electric baseboard heating. And the minimum requirements are 802.11 b/g/n wireless router and a smartphone or tablet with Android 4.2 and above or iOS 8.4 and above.
Saving money on your energy bill just got a whole lot easier and it won’t take you much time at all. What tips do you have for saving on your energy bills?
A special thanks to Honewell for supplying a free Lyric Round™ Wi-Fi Thermostat for my review. The opinion, excitement and article are 100% mine!

Looks cool! We have a wifi enabled thermostat and love having the ability to keep an eye on the house temp while we are away and even change the temp from our phones. Highly recommended.

This is nice if you are coming back from vacation and have the temp set high or ow to save while gone but you can adjust the temp on your way home to have it perfect for your arrival.
