Easter Fun Facts – With the Lenton season upon us I find so many people wondering about the origination of Easter so I decided I’d write a little but about some Easter fun facts that maybe you didn’t know……

Easter is a religious holiday that holds great importance for people of the Christian faith. Palm Sunday, Lent, Good Friday and Easter Sunday are celebrated with church services and religious sermons. Then there is the silly side to the holiday that has a “Peter Cottontail hopping down the bunny trail” leaving colored eggs for all the kiddies. We all know about this story. But did you know that the term Easter gets its name from Eastre, the Anglo-Saxon goddess who symbolizes the hare and the egg? How about the fact that only 12 of the 50 states celebrate Good Friday as a holiday? Bet you didn’t! Here are ten Easter fun facts to share around the water cooler this week that will amaze your friends and coworkers.

Americans consume more than 16 million jelly beans during this holiday. That is enough jelly beans to circle the globe not once, not twice, but three times. Wow! Just wow!

The Easter egg is said to symbolize and represent joy, celebration and new life.
