Spring Table Decorations

When it comes to spring table decorations, you can often find do-it-yourself ideas and put them together easily in your free time with items you already have in your home and just a small amount of effort on your part. I know for my family I enjoy homemade fun things just like this because I can involve my daughter who is surely the craft queen. The results are worth the effort when you have a beautiful Easter table and your family and friends feel special and loved when they sit down to eat with a unique one of a kind table piece that adds color and fragrance! See my easy to follow step by step instructions below:

For this spring table decoration, you will need;

Block of florist’s foam
Medium-sized votive type candle
Corningware 16oz. french white bowl (or whatever kind you have at home)
Decorative ribbon
Double sided tape
Fresh carnations (or any flowers you like but keep in mind that carnations are inexpensive and last longer than say a rose)

Directions: Cut a piece of florist’s foam to fit the inside of your bowl. You are welcome to get fancy and measure it but floral foam squishes and bends so if it’s a little large it’s easy to get it to fit quickly with little effort.
Soap your floral foam in a bowl of water. The water that is absorbed into the foam is what will keep your flowers alive and fresh looking for days.

Place your floral foam that has already absorbed the water on the bottom of your bowl and sit the lemon shaped candle in the center. (as seen above) Your candle should sit up above the top of the bowl.
Next, snip the stems of your flowers so that when they are inserted in the foam they come just over the top of the bowl and just below the top of your lemon candle. Place the blooms in the floral foam, making a bouquet around the candle and filling in empty spaces with the flower. You can also add some greenery if you like, keeping the blooms and greens close together to make a tight bouquet. Then, wrap your bowl with your ribbon (anything you have at home will by fine)

This DIY project is great for Spring, to add color to a room or make things a bit more festive. Note that you’ll see naturally colored eggs in the image above to push an “Easter feel” but really you could add anything compliment that you like! Enjoy!
