Fast action and packed with excitement is the way Kayla Blood describes her new life driving a Monster Jam truck as it tours the nation and comes to Baltimore’s Royal Farms Arena Friday February 28th, Saturday the 29th, and Sunday March 1st. This show is called the Monster Jam Triple Threat Championship series and it’s full of new stunts, amazing drivers and thrilling entertainment at every level!
The Triple Threat series runs from January to May and leads up to the Monster Jam World final and Kayla says, “she hopes to win!” Once this particular series is over all of the drivers will then have different schedules and more weekends off but for right now she says “she’s gotta keep her eye on the prize” and will only spend 2 days home during this time.
While Ms. Blood is in Baltimore she’s planning to check out Locus Point Steamers and explore the area. She’s heard “great things about the aquarium” but with her limited time she’s not sure if she’ll be able to make it and promises to further explore next time she’s in Baltimore.
Her son is 7 years old and his name is Austin. “He’s head strong and stubborn like his mama” she says. He too shares a love of riding dirt bikes and 4 wheelers which is how she got started in her driving career. “I’m a spit fire filled with a competitive nature and it looks like Austin is my mini me.”
Kayla says there’s nothing better than having her little guy at the events with her. “And when he’s here I call him my “lucky charm”!” Ms. Blood says she couldn’t do any of this without her amazing mother in law who all the grand kids call “Honey”. “She’s is amazing and is always a huge part of our support system!”
Kayla has an amazing crew chief named Levi, along with an amazing crew who graduated from UNOH where they studied to be high performance automotive, and diesel technicians. These guys maintain and keep her truck running and looking it’s best for every competition! She says they are the unsung heroes and “we couldn’t have events without them!” But she does like to help clean and shine up her truck and doesn’t mind grabbing a rag to wipe it down.
Kayla has had a few wrecks back when she raced Mx, which is why she is happy for her roll cage in her Monster Jam truck along with all of the certified safety equipment. She says, “We practically can do just about anything these days confidently and safely!”
“I’m able to do what I love and chase my passion for Motorsports and you can’t put a price on that. I love having this platform and inspiring little girls to be more than what people expect them to be and for them to never stop trying to reach their goals no matter the obstacles.”
“We are all competitors and don’t hold anything back when it comes to competing even when it comes to competing with my husband! We all want the points and the championship in the end so things can sometimes get heated on the track. But that all quickly becomes a thing of the past when we are all hanging out, having a good time, and enjoying each other’s company. We are all like one big family by the end of the touring season. “
She is never afraid to compete at the highest level in Monster Jam truck. Every year not only does the equipment get better, their safety gear is improved which gives the drivers and athletes the security they need to power those 12,000lb beasts!
