Natural Remedies for Diaper Rash
I have some great tips for natural remedies for diaper rash. As a mom of 4 children I know that diaper rash happens and has so many different causes & treatments. Even mom’s that constantly keep baby changed can run into periods of diaper rash 1)after or during use of an antibiotic 2) with diarrhea from a stomach bug 3) from a yeast that invades a beginning rash 4) from highly acidic waste. I’ve experienced differing degrees of each of these while raising my own kids (my eldest is now 21) and I want to share with you some tips and tricks I learned along the way. [Read more…]

Opportunities abound when visiting America’s first National Seashore and I thought I would do my research to see what was available to my family. Best Egg Laying Hens
Best Egg Laying Hens – Rhode Island Reds! Spring is in the air and with spring comes the Easter holiday. Easter gets us thinking about eggs and when you think about eggs, maybe you are considering where the eggs you bought at the store may have come from and just how healthy and nutritious they are for your family. Many homeowners like you and I are considering following the new trend and raising a few chickens in our own backyards. We will know exactly what our chickens are eating, what goes into the eggs we are eating and we can feel good placing them on the breakfast table for our family. Easter is a great time to get those cute, fluffy baby chicks and they will be perfect for laying eggs by the fall. So off we go to find out what kind of baby chicks we would like for our backyard flock and we ask ourselves “What are the best egg laying hens so that I can get the most bang for my buck?”, per say. If you read my first article on the Ameraucana breed of chicken, you’ll already know they are good egg layers. I am doing a little research on the top 3 egg layers, so in addition to the Ameraucana, let’s look at the Rhode Island Red. [Read more…]
Key Note Mason-Dixon Outdoor Writers Conference 2017
I’ll be Key Note speaker for the 2nd year in a row at the Mason-Dixon Outdoor Writers Conference on March 11th. This is an amazing group of authors, newspaper columnists, bloggers, and outdoor tv personalities. I’m so honored to support all things outdoor. Did you know that someone once took a scientific survey of adults asking them to recall their most fond memories of childhood and 85% of those adults recalled a memory that took place outside. There’s something out nature that sticks with us and stands the test of time. The smell, the sights, the feel of sitting on a large granite rock overlooking a valley is something that captivates the human spirit, centers it, and returns it back to Mother Earth!
Brown Eggs vs. White Eggs
Brown Eggs vs. White Eggs – The question often arises in grocery stores and kitchens across the country – Which egg is best for my family? The classic brown eggs vs. white eggs debate is on! Is there really a difference? Is one better than the other? What makes the egg shell a different color? Does it all really matter?
The secret is out! The difference isn’t in the eggs, it’s in the chicken! [Read more…]
