Beat the Winter Doldrums – About this time of year playing at the local pool, going to the beach, & wearing shorts & a t-shirt feel like a world away…. Digging out the bag of beach toys from the garage is now a chore you’d gladly take on because you’re tied down with double the laundry during the winter months & kids that cut down their outside play by at least 50%. Well moms, it’s time to plan a winter weekend getaway, for sanities sake! It’s time to break free moms….
Let me tell you about a fun resort that’s family friendly and leaves you without any complainers & no bored kids –
Massanutten is your answer. This amazing 4 season resort in nestled in the Shenandoah Valley and although you’ll feel like you’re a world away from home it’s only 3 hours from Baltimore and about 2 hours from Washington DC. What I like best about Massanutten is that there’s truly something for everyone because it seems like there’s some kinda unsaid law of nature that says your 2nd child is ALWAYS the polar opposite of the 1st. Sound familiar?
Ok, let’s talk winter fun. Whether you are novice skiers or seasoned on the slopes this resort has you covered! In honor of 50 years of skiing they’ve expanded terrain for novice skiers and snowboarders. Wanna be the coolest mom on the block as well as the envy of other moms on social media this winter…. Hit the slopes! They also have added a new conveyor lift and LED lighting for night skiing. The fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down so you can grab a quick bite to eat & then wear those kiddos out on the slopes.
I also just read about Massanutten’s future plans for expansion that I found very exciting! They plan to;
- Add two more trails for more experienced skiers and riders in 2022
- Install a new detachable quad lift for the peak and new double black diamond trails in 2023
- Add two additional “more difficult” trails in 2024
My husband grew up in Harrisonburg Virginia & we just love trips to the area. There’s just so much to do, see & experience. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about the indoor water park and snow tubing hill, these are the most favorite parts of Massanutten according to my daughter. They’ve got a 42,000 square feet of water play to include a lazy River, thrilling water slides & waves you can surf.
Be sure to leave the cell phones back at the room for a day. You won’t regret it!
