Prepping Kids for a Road Trip – Road trips are a great way to spend family time. There is always something new to see, an exciting adventure to enjoy together, and wonderful family memories to make. As a home school family we like to combine the two because educational opportunities are everywhere and in everything we do. Sometime’s we’re home to do our studies, but very often we are on the road, learning and experiencing the world. After all, there’s no school to teach how to cross a boarder, how to understand customs in other cultures and how to be respectful of all people, places, and cultures. So, to gain the most from our experiences, we always prep our kids for a road trip, allowing them to become familiar with an area before visiting. If you haven’t heard the news…. I WON a trip to Eastern Canada! Stay tuned because I’ll be reviewing each place I visit and of course I’ll be creating another fun, family style video of our adventures so you’ll have ideas of where you want to go on your next family vacation experience. I say “experience” because as you have seen, our lives are filled with adventures and experiences because these are the things that mold our lives and give our kids character.
Our last day of vacation found us well rested after a relaxing night in the owner’s suite at the Colonial Inn. It was two floors overlooking the pool with a full kitchen. Absolutely lovely! After having a fantastic few days in Cape Hatteras, it was time for my family to head north and visit the Kitty Hawk/Nags Head area. Dare County offers more than 100 miles of shoreline and we wanted to see as much as we could! Hatteras is more secluded and this area is more populated with tourists so we wanted to experience them both. The weather was gorgeous, the sea called our name, activities to do were around every corner and the sights to see were too many to see on one trip, but we were determined to squeeze in as much as we could! We had hoped day #2 in Dare County would bring just as many smiles as day #1 at the beach & watching the fishermen bring in their catch. If you are like me you just want a few hours in a nice quiet spot with a good book. Well recently my family visited the Outer Banks in Dare County North Carolina for a little bit of adventure, sun and sand. This diverse vacation destination really did have something for everyone! Beaches as far as the eye can see, a theater under the stars, historical sites, biking, surfing, horseback riding. There’s something for everyone here in OBX. Pies & Pints Pizzeria, visit West Virginia – On the 2nd day of our River Expeditions adventurous family trip my family of four got hungry and the resort suggested the local hangout Pies and Pints.
