What an amazing day today! I had the privilege of being invited to the opening day dress rehearsal for Cirque Dreams Holidaze show at the new MGM National Harbor and was afforded the opportunity to meet and interview Ariel Rose – a major performer in the Cirque Dreams Holidaze show which opened tonight and runs thru Saturday December 9th at the theater in the MGM Resort. I wanted to know about the life of a performer living the stage dream! Amazingly Ariel was a really beautiful and a down to Earth person with a true love of performing. She bounces around with lots of energy and is very peppy and super friendly. My 1st question started with stage freight. Do you think Ariel suffers with stage freight like most people would on opening night? Well, she said that she does get stage fright but only “when I have family and friends in the audience, I get really nervous and I worry about my performance.”
After about 10 minutes I felt like I known her forever, like you would know a good friend or close neighbor. She attended college in Miami and has a Bachelors in Music (BM degree). I asked if she “fell into” the life of a performer or did she push it and work hard to get on the stage with Cirque Dreams. Well, as you may have guessed with most things in life, except for the lucky few, she worked hard to make it to the stage and charm families while touring all over the country.
She also explained that stage life is a commitment and even when sick, she says, “the show must go on!” Although she herself is an incredible performer she is still humbled by the talent that surrounds her each night on the stage. She explained to me that the Cirque Dreams Holidaze show has 30 artists from all over the world and over 20 amazing acts which make the show quite unique.
Although the Cirque Dreams Holidaze tours is only 6-7 weeks long over the holiday season, she said she still slips in a little time to tour areas around the country when she can. She said it’s been an incredible life and she expressed her love of performing and blessing for her life – truly an amazing person!
Now, when I see the show with my family on Saturday the 9th at 3pm I’ll feel just a little extra magic knowing what it takes to make this production come to life, and the real people behind the amazing costumes! I hope you’ll come on out and join me!
