If you’re looking for fun and easy Easter treats for kids then you have to try these Rice Krispy treats with Easter Bark on top. It’s really simple and completely kid friendly, just in case you have little ones in the kitchen every day like I do…. ☺Easter is such a fun time of year! Dressing up for church, kids coloring Easter eggs, children hunting for eggs and parents eating the candy! What’s not to like about it, right? My mother used to make Easter baskets for us kids (there were 6 of us) every year and she never once forgot to make up a basket for my father!
Ok, on to the recipe for my fun Easter treats for kids;
Ingredients needed:
Butter
Rice Krispy Cereal
Marshmallows
Wilton Candy Melts
Parchment Paper (Reynolds)
Candy for the top (Jelly beans, Robin Eggs, M&M’s – whatever you like)
Rice Krispies
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
- OR
- 4 cups Kraft marshmallows
- 6 cups Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® cereal
Directions for Rice Krispies:
1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Stir in food coloring (if desired). Remove from heat.
2. Add KELLOGG’S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.
3. Using butter spatula or your hand coated with a little butter or coconut oil & press mixture into a cookie sheet pan with sides. I like to coat the pan with butter or coconut oil then add Reynolds parchment paper to the bottom (make for easy clean up and no sticking which means easier to cut afterwards).
MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS
In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.
Adding the Easter Bark
Melt your Wilton candy melts in your microwave (following directions on bag) adding a teaspoon on coconut oil (I like using coconut oil because it’s nice and sweet). Stir and pour over the Rice Krispy Treats.
If you’re mixing colors and wants the swirl effect be sure NOT to mix too much and pour the colors separately.
Now add your candy quickly to the melted Wilton candy melts before it hardens. Allow to cool and set. Cut with a cookie cutter for fun shapes or with a knife. Enjoy!
