Cookies are such a great, easy DIY Christmas gift. If you’re not Betty Crocker but want to make some beautiful, gourmet looking cookies that are easy and “no fuss” then let me tell you an easy little secret that I’ve used for a long time …..
I’ve been making easy DIY Christmas gifts for a long time now and I’ve found the best way to make a fast simple cookie recipe look gourmet is with some dimple drizzle from easy to melt in the microwave candy melts.
My easy to make cookies above are just the recipe from the back of the Reeses peanut butter chips bag. I have a house full of kids, I’m a home school mom and I don’t have time to get too fancy so I ALWAYS keep some simple things on hand – Candy melts. These are easy to melt in the microwave (takes about 1 to 2 minutes) and the drizzle is quick and fun – you can’t go wrong with drizzle! Plus, kids love it!
So after I followed the recipe on the back of the Reeses peanut butter chips bag I placed all of the cookies together on on parchment paper (to keep from a sticky mess). Now just so you know I don’t use a cookie scoup. Some of the cookies are a little smaller and some a little larger – its just the way I made them with my 3 year old in the kitchen and we’re fine with that. We don’t really want out cookies looking like they cam from a factory.
Now I place my Wilton cookie melts (or you can use chocolate chips) in the microwave for about a minute and stir. If it seems like it isn’t the consistency you need for a drizzle just add a little oil and stir until you get the desired consistency. Now just let the chocolate flow out of your spoon as you go up and down the cookies.
Here is how they look with the drizzle.

So I ALWAYS keep candy melts on hand in my house. It is absolutely the BEST way to make an easy cookie recipe look gourmet!
