I have been receiving e-mails about how to live a frugal lifestyle. So, I just wanted to let you know how another frugal living day might go for our family.
My son went fishing today so when I picked him up, we went out to eat. We went through the drive through at Chick Fil A and we used our coupons for a FREE Chick Fil A sandwich and a FREE 4 piece children’s meal. McDonalds was maybe a 3/4th mile a way, so we then went to McDonalds to get our FREE smoothie and 32 oz FREE beverage. We had lunch today and paid absolutely nothing!
After we had lunch (yes – I made him wash his hands twice after fishing! lol) I stopped by 3 drug stores all within a half mile of each other. My first stop was Rite Aid where I went back to their pharmacy and asked for the FREE Flu Coupon Book. It was cheerfully given to me. I then went to Walgreens (across the street) and purchased a few items on my Walgreensmatch ups post this week. Afterwards, I stopped by CVS where I walked away with a fully stuffed bag for only $2.73 out of pocket and $5.00 in extra care bucks – GREAT DEAL!. My last stop was Safeway where I ran in to pick up quite a few of the Summer Savings Books and plenty of the Safeway $70 in Savings Books to give out at my next coupon seminar in October.
All of these stores were located within a mile of each other. It was fairly quick and they were all on my way home after picking up my son. The McDonald’s coupons came in the mail to my home as did the Chik Fil A Coupons. If you ever want more of a coupon that came as a household mailer then go to the post office that night or the next day. Tons of people don’t want so much of the stuff they get when they check their post boxes. It’s an easy way to get enough for your entire family. Another idea is to check with your neighbors that night or post “wanted” on www.freecycle.org.
I hope this helps with ideas on frugal living. We probably spend only 25% of what most American families spend on daily living but we are able to live a similar lifestyle thanks to our frugal ways.
