Funny Easter Poems – Ah, Spring. Chocolate bunnies, Easter eggs, plastic grass, and difficult-to-remove food coloring stains on my counter tops. Did I say chocolate bunnies? I take a deep breath and smell the heady scent of the earth waiting to be turned, ready to yield a fresh handful of spinach and peas. A new sense of optimism rises up in me – is it that way for you, too?
If late-winter’s anemic sunlight and too-cold-for-school mornings have you dragging, take heart in Easter’s promise of renewal this year.
I’ve always balked at New Year’s resolutions: what a silly time of year to reflect on anything – let alone (!) one’s waistline, life choices or (gasp) Entire Future. No, instead, during the month following Christmas, we should finish the last slice of pie, take an extra nap, and be gentle with ourselves. Why? Because it’s c.o.l.d. outside. Animals even know this: you don’t see very many of them in the winter now, do you? They’re napping.
Rather, springtime begs to be our season of reflection and resolution; even the sun breaks the horizon earlier and lingers with us longer, curious about what we’re up to. My mind races before I even open my eyes in the morning: How many excuses can I find to get outside? How big will the garden be this year? What will I grow? The dog needs a (longer) walk. The flower beds could use a little weeding. How about the bird houses – they could use a lick and a promise. Is that a bluebird? Bluebirds!! There’s Mrs. So-and-so – I haven’t seen her since Thanksgiving!
If you still feel uninspired to shake off the doldrums of winter, go to your local animal shelter where optimism smiles no matter what time of year. From the volunteers there to the critters themselves, the hope that’s served there will warm you up like a bowl of split pea soup. Don’t – absolutely do not – take the children or this will happen:
Funny Easter Poems:
We have a dog. We have a cat.
We have two guinea pigs.
And since we didn’t have them fixed,
The guinea pigs had ‘pigs.
The local shelter placed an ad
To raise a little money.
And now we have to make more room:
We got an (Easter) bunny.
******
Bunnies are white, bunnies are grey
I caught one on Easter, on this bright sunny day
He sat in my lap and jumped all around
Then all of a sudden, something fell to the ground
Little black balls, there must have been twenty
So I said to the bunny “this doesn’t feel funny”
Rachel says
So cute!
