If you are planning a little get together this fall then you may like to check out my Halloween appetizer recipes. This Halloween recipe is my vegetable tray with dipping sauce in the pumpkin. Everyone always loves it and it’s really cute and so easy to make too. It still makes “good for you” just little more festive for the Halloween season. Let me know you what I did;
1st thing to do it cut the top out of a pumpkin (large or small is fine) then scoop and clean out any seeds or stringy stuff from the inside until it’s well scraped and clean. Now pop your pumpkin shell in the freezer until you’re ready for it. This way your pumpkin shell will keep your dip well chilled during the party and it’ll stay fresh longer.
Now its time to get your meats, crackers and vegetables together for your tray. I like Margherita pepperoni – it’s my favorite! Great quality. I also suggest salami and summer sausage. Note: I cut my vegetables and cheese up the day prior and placed them all in zipper seal bags in my refrigerator so that all I had to do just before the party was arrange them on the tray. Be sure to put just a few tablespoons of water in the bottom of your vegetables baggies to keep them fresh and don’t mix veggies (otherwise they mix flavors).
Ok so now it’s time to assemble your tray working in a circle around the pumpkin.
Now get your dip for the inside of the pumpkin. I used Sabra Hummus but you could use anything you like. I just chose that so I wasn’t overloaded with things to make.
Place your dip into a baggie (like a Ziploc), clip the end with kitchen scissors, & pipe it into the pumpkin shell.
Pipe into your pumpkin bowl just like I’m doing. If you spoon it in you will not get the same effect – trust me~
