When you trade a phone in, you want to get the most bang for your buck. The more you get on your trade-ins, the less you have to spend on a new phone. As a mom, I know how important it is to save every single penny you can. So, here are my tips on how to prepare a phone for trade-in!
Back-up Your Information
First and foremost, you are going to want to back up all the information on the phone. This is because when you turn your phone in to trade, you don’t get to just bluetooth your information to your new phone because you won’t have it yet. To back up your smartphone, use the following:
- Cloud storage
- Share platforms
- SD Card
For external storage like an SD card, remove it and store it somewhere safe when you are finished.
Delete Your Information
Your phone stores a lot of information on it such as passwords, finger prints, and even your banking information for many people. For the safety of you and your kids, it is important to delete stored information, cache, and history. You can also do a factory reset on your phone which brings it back to where it was when it was originally purchased. Remember, you don’t want anyone getting any of your personal information.
Get Rid of Apps
Another thing you want to do is log out of your playstore, and delete any apps that have personal information on them. Apps such as popular Social Media apps store a lot of your personal information. You don’t want anyone being able to get into those apps in your name. To be sure this doesn’t happen, delete this apps off of your phone and sign out of your playstore.
Clean the Phone
Phones can get kind of gross after using them for long periods of time. So, if you want to trade it in, you need to do a little cleaning to put it in tip top shape. Keep in mind that trade-in programs such as Trademore factor product condition into the price. You want anything you have for sale to be presentable.
Take off the case and look for smudges on the screen and dirt along the edges. Take a damp cloth and wipe down the screen to remove any oil, dirt, or fingerprints. Clean the back and sides well.
Now, you are ready to trade in your phone! Look for companies such as Trademore that give you the best value for your used cell phone and allow you to purchase used phones as well.
