Time for “frugal school!” Are you price matching at Target? Well this is a great explanation of how to price match at Target. There are some HOT deals out there right now and we’ll be seeing more before the end of the year so I want to make sure you’re on board with exactly HOW this all works! And you can snag Trivial Pursuit for $1! I’m going to try and make a video on price matching at Walmart and Target tomorrow for those of you that prefer a visual.
Ok lets start with Target: The 1st thing you need to know is that Target has changed their price matching policy effective immediately and ending on December 16th. Now that doesn’t mean that price matching is over for Target on the 16th of December, it just means that Target is offering a little extra perk right now and at the end of the day on December 16th that is it! Back to the old method of price matching at Target.
Corporate Target released this press release about the new holiday price matching. It basically explains that they will match any competitors advertised price for an identical item and NOW they will match the on line price for their biggest competitor – Walmart! Let me give you can example of how this price matching policy will work in your favor.
Lets say that you want the game Millionaire Monopoly. Its a “top toy” this year so its flying off the shelves. So you decide to hit Walmart online here. Oooops – its a GREAT price at $9.88 for a game with a real value of $20 however its SOLD OUT! What next? Price match – here’s the deal.
Head over to your local Target, find the game Millionaire Monopoly and take it up to the register with the coupon for $5 off. BEFORE your purchase is scanned tell the cashier you’d like to “price match” with Walmart’s price of $9.88 online. After they verify the price (via your internet capable cell phone or a store manager etc) They’ll then ring it up at $9.88. Then hand over your $5 off coupon and BOOM – a $20 value game for $4.88!
Lets Make a Deal!
Monopoly Online price at Walmart $9.88 (but remember its sold out!)
Use the $5./1 Monopoly coupon here
= $4.88 per game! If you don’t have kids or already have the game this is the perfect price & time of year to donate!
Now starting yesterday there was a 2 day sale at Toys R Us. They were offering a Trivial Pursuit game for $1. Of course the game is completely SOLD OUT but you don’t need to worry because you can snag that sale circular and price match over at Target.
Just take the Toys R Us sale circular to Target and find Trivial Persuit in the gaming section. Before the cashier scans your purchase be sure to tell him or her that you are “price matching.” Show them the Toys R Us sale circular with the $1 Trivial Pursuit game and they’ll ring it up for a buck! Now you HAVE TO purchase the game during the sale cycle of the circular and you HAVE TO bring the sale circular with you for the price match. then BOOM – you have a $30 game for $1
Its really important that you understand how to do this yourself so you can save the most money. A new circular will likely be released tomorrow (by Toys R Us) and you may find another HOT deal! You share with us when you find a good deal and we’ll share with you! Text deals you find to me at 410-490-4051
Are you signed up for Target text coupons? They have more then 1 kind of text coupon to help you save. Its all part of a frugal living plan! For more help come to one of my frugal school couponing seminars here!

I went to Walmart (Rehoboth) this morning to get the Monopoly Millionaire. The shelf price is $14.99 but the online price is $9.88. Usually Walmart does not price match their own website BUT until Christmas, they will as long as you ask for it. I got my game for $9.88 – $5.00 Coupon = $4.88. THANK YOU!
