Well Independence Day is just around the corner so that means it’s time for some fun, kid friendly, July 4th dessert recipes!
I have 3 that we’ve tried and tested so far but there will possibly be more to come….depending on how the remainder of June turns out of course! ☺ These are Angle Food Stars. They were really fun to make with the cookie cut outs of the angel food cake and very tasty too. You don’t need a fork and knife which makes them the perfect July 4th dessert recipe since it’s a finger food kind of dessert. Lol ☺
Directions for Recipe:
Use a box mix Angel Food cake but instead of using an Angel Food Cake pan use a sheet cake pan (like a 1/4 sheet cake or brownie pan). Cook until toothpick inserted comes out clean or according to box directions. Allow to cool. Turn upside down and carefully remove from pan.
Use your cookie cutter to cut out the shapes desired. We used stars to go with our July 4th theme. (I suggest a metal cookie cutter over plastic for cutting the shapes on an Angel Food Cake)
Add whipped topping to the top of your starts (like you see above). (If you don’t have a Wilton icing bag use a plastic bag and snip a small spot in the corner then use it like an icing bag.
Wash Strawberries well
Now add sliced strawberries to the whipped topping then add a dab of whipped topping to the top of the strawberries. Then, place your blueberry on top. Enjoy! They were so much fun to make with kids in the kitchen!
