Are you thinking about kids Easter treats this year? Well I just made Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Treats and they were delicious. Plus, if you have kids in the kitchen then this recipe is a must because it’s a completely “no bake” recipe!
My daughter loves to help in the kitchen so I try and come up with fun recipes that are easy to follow so we have fun together. I remember my mother yelling at me (and my 5 siblings) to get out of the kitchen so she could cook and I’m completely opposite – I like to include kids in the kitchen and make cooking, baking and making a fun and creative part of our everyday life. I guess it’s part of being a home school mom. ☺
Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Treats Recipe;
- Peanut Butter
- Butter
- Chocolate (you can use a milk chocolate or semi-sweet)
- Powdered Sugar
- Rice Krispy Cereal
- Marshmallows
Directions for Rice Krispies”
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
- OR
- 4 cups Kraft marshmallows
- 6 cups Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® cereal
Directions for Rice Krispies:
1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Stir in food coloring (if desired). Remove from heat.
2. Add KELLOGG’S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.
3. Using butter spatula or your hand coated with a little butter or coconut oil & press mixture into a cookie sheet pan with sides. I like to coat the pan with butter or coconut oil then add Reynolds parchment paper to the bottom (make for easy clean up and no sticking which means easier to cut afterwards).
MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS
In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.
**************
Put your Rice Krispy treats in a pan and flatten them out (be sure to grease the pan with coconut oil or butter 1st).
Once cooled add your peanut butter mixture on top and flatten out onto the Rice Krispy treats. Peanut Butter mixture is the same recipe as my chocolate peanut butter eggs here. Just make the peanut butter mixture and spread evenly on to your Krispy treats.
Add your melted chocolate mixture (either milk chocolate or semi sweet). Melt in double broiler or microwave adding small teaspoons of coconut oil to slightly thin chocolate to make it smooth and easily able to pour onto the peanut butter mixture.
Wait for chocolate to set then slice with a hot knife. Top with Robin Eggs if you like! Enjoy!
