Travel Back in History at Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament
As a little girl, I always dreamed of being a princess. I loved to imagine that I lived in a wonderful castle, with the handsome prince jousting for my hand in marriage. This may be the simple daydreams of a little girl, but if you have a little princess or a brave knight of your own, Medieval Times is an amazing adventure for kids of all ages.
It Transports You Back in Time
From the outside castle, Medieval Times in Hanover, Maryland transports you back to the days of the knights of the round table. As soon as you enter you are immersed into a different world from the knight’s armor and weapons so proudly displayed, to the room of medieval torture devices. Everyone is dressed in costume and even some guests show in costume – it’s part of what makes the experience so fun! Plan to be early because sitting is first come first served. The castle opens 75 minutes before the actual dinner and show begin but there is so much to see outside of the arena. You can watch the falcon master handle the king’s falcon, ask questions and even take a photo together. There are a gift shop and full-service bar. So, don’t worry about being too early and the kids getting bored because there really is a lot to see and do.
The Dinner was Fit for A King
With the anticipation building, when it’s time for the dinner and tournament to begin it really is the most amazing part of this experience. It is the king’s dinner and we all have the honor of being invited. Your dinner is a four-course meal, that is in no doubt fit for a king or queen. The meal included tomato bisque soup (delicious start!), garlic bread, tender and savory baked chicken, roasted herb potatoes and a dessert. Everything was so tasty and my kids didn’t even mind eating with their hands since we were eating the way people actually ate in medieval times. The service is friendly and everyone acts out their role making it that much more fun!
While you eat your delicious hands-on meal the show continues on. The horses are extremely well trained and so majestic looking! There is no other show that even comes close to the Medieval Times dinner and tournament. It’s unique, it’s fun and it’s EXCITING~!!! We go anywhere from 2 to 4 times per year since the kids love the food as well as the entertainment.
The Music Was Epic
The music is epic, the lights, announcer, king and queen all draw you further into the experience. The amazing horses ridden by brave knights perform many dazzling displays. The horses dance together flawlessly and the knight’s joust to rank higher for their king. The knights have sword battles and other challenges to defeat their opponents. Everyone is encouraged to cheer for the knight in the area where you are seated. In the end, the winner is found. It is an amazing two-hour show.
I would highly recommend Medieval Times for an interesting dinner and show that transports you back in time. It’s perfect for a special birthday or anniversary, or like us, just to have some good old fashioned wholesome family fun! Medieval Times is extremely family friendly and is sure to become one of your favorite activities to do together. I just love Medieval Times…. it never grows old!
