Monster Jam® is roaring back into the Capital One Arena in Washington DC and during this Monster circuit you’ll see Brianna Mahon, driver of “Whiplash.” In a sport where FEW female competitors ever make it into the world on monster truck drivers, Brianna has taken the sport to the next level with entertaining moments typically performed my male drivers proving to the world with her freestyle, skills challenge and racing that she’s willing to get loud and in your face while up against other trucks like Grave Digger, Zombie and Stone Crusher! This 29 year old is a cut above the rest, no pun intended! Mrs. Mahon is a beautician AND Monster Truck driver – how amazing is THAT!?!
Fans consider monster trucks as the ultimate profession, but the male and female drivers who take part must possess SERIOUS physical dexterity, mental discipline needed to control 12,000-pound truck that can do back flips, ride on two wheels and race up to 70 mph, sometimes even while taking a beating in the process. This is not a sport for the unskilled and let me assure you that Brianna takes her driving very seriously! She says she’s “in it to win it” and boy she’s not kidding around. At the same time that she’s driven to win and compete (she says it’s in her blood), she’s also humble and an incredible role model.
Ask Brianna about her fans and she’s quick to share how humbled she is that kids show up in Monster Jam attire, Monster Jam shirts, and even sometimes dressed just like her. She says when she sees a little girl beaming and overjoyed to have her picture taken with her, all decked out in her Monster Jam attire, that it warms her heart like nothing else. She says it’s crazy how inspiring a young fan can be to a driver.
Wondering what her plans are while she’s in DC and not racing? Brianna says she “wasn’t always a big history buff but that she’s found herself so excited to see the Washington monuments up close and personal.” So when she’s not performing crazy stunts at the Capital One Arena January 29th and 30th, she’s going to be “touring the capital and exploring history from a different perspective.” She comes from a small town of only about 300 residents so cruising the monuments on foot, exploring the architecture of Washington DC, and scouting out a fun, local cafe for lunch is really quite appealing to her.
