Modern Baby Shower Ideas – Let’s Play Games
Is planning a baby shower in your near future? You probably want something fresh and fun to keep your guests entertained. You want modern baby shower ideas rather than relics from the past. After all, you may be thinking, my guests will be coming from all over and will be of all ages. They will include family, friends, coworkers and in-laws. You’ll want the shower you host to have everyone smiling, laughing and having fun while they celebrate the new little life that will be coming into the world very soon and the momma who will be working hard to birth that little bundle of joy!
When you are thinking of game ideas, look no further than the popular board games families are enjoying everywhere. Here’s a list of a few family friendly games with just a slight twist to make them the center of your modern baby shower.
- Name that Baby Scavenger Hunt.
This one is for the shower or reveal where the momma has not yet told anyone the new little one’s name. Everyone loves a scavenger hunt and this one will answer that burning question of what will we be calling the new baby. It’s inexpensive and easy to do.
You will need:
- Two different color packs of square Post-It Notes
Directions:
Depending on your number of guests, pull off enough of each color of post it notes to write the letters of baby’s first and middle name on each note and leave some blank. During the shower, break your guests into two groups. Have the first member of each team hunt for a Post It note of their team’s color. The first team to find all the post it notes of their color then unscrambles the letters and discovers baby’s first or middle name. Team #2 will then discover the other. Lots of fun will be had and everyone can “ooh and aah” over the new little one’s moniker.
- Baby Scattergories
One of the most popular board games still being played in households today. Scattergories requires very little planning and everyone from age 10 to 100 will enjoy playing.
You will need:
- a letter die (out of a current Scattergories game (or order from Amazon here)
- an egg timer or sand timer from the Dollar Store
- several copies of the questions below
- pencils for everyone
Directions:
A guest takes a turn rolling the letter die. The timer is then set for 60 seconds and each guest rushes to answer the questions below or ones that you have written yourself and they must all start with the letter rolled on the die. When time is up, everyone shares their answers. An answer shared by another guest is canceled out. Original answers earn one point each. Set a number of rounds to be played and the guest with the most points wins a prize.
