National Public Lands Day is Septermber 27th, 2014 and you’ll get FREE entrance into
ALL National parks along with MOST state and local parks as well. Wondering what is the heck is National Public Lands Day? Well is is the largest, pub lic volunteer effort on public lands ever created. Last year over 1at 75,000 people volunteered on that day. It’s a beautiful effort to preserve the beauty that is open to us all as Americans.
Last year NPLD volunteers:
- Collected an estimated 23,000 pounds of invasive plants
- Built and maintained an estimated 1,500 miles of trails (hiking trails, horse trails etc!)
- Planted an estimated 100,000 trees, shrubs and other native plants (keeping our air clean & beautiful)
- Removed an estimated 500 tons of trash from trails and other places (my favorite part – I hate to see litter)
- Contributed an estimated $18 million through volunteer services to improve public lands across the country
Be sure to mark your calendar to volunteer in your local park or at the least get out and enjoy public lands for free that day!
