I went on a diet once and wiped all of the sugar out of the house, all candy, and anything with sugar. After a few weeks of my entire family complaining my husband finally looked at me one night at the dinner table and said,
“I know you’re trying to loose weight but how long do we all have to suffer?” That is what brings me to Nutrition 101: Portion Control! Does my story sound familiar? Its so hard to loose weight and control portions when you’re busy being a mom, running kids from here to there, getting a hot meal on the table, laundry done, homework completed and everything else that we’re expected to do it a single day. Well I want to tell you what has worked for me. I’ve lost 10 lbs now and I’m still going! Just 20 more to go & I will have cut my risk of diabetes, added years onto my life, and found other benefits in my marriage that I leave you to consider at a later time…..
Portion control plates. These likely aren’t anything new on the market really, just new to me! I started walking with a friend 5 days a week for just 30 minutes a day and incorporating portion control into my life. I decided that it was too difficult to modify our family eating plan (which really wasn’t bad) and that my kids and husband really didn’t need to be deprived of dessert now and again. So, now that I’m doing a little bit of exercise and I get the constant reminder of portion control with my portion plates I’ve lost weight (and this is one thing I hope never to find!)
I purchased 2 portion control plates so I always had 1 clean for my meals. Again advance planning is always what seems to win in life. While I was looking for the plates I even found portion control plates for kids which are great if you have a child that may be on the verge of an unsafe weight. Its really neat because I’m eating less now and I find myself becoming more full faster. I think part of what works about this is just that its a constant reminder.
I always like to try things myself 1st before I write about them and this one has definitely turned out to be a winner. The plates run about $8 to $12 bucks on average. Very reasonable. Plus eating less will keep costs down on food and ultimately meds, my health ,and productively in all areas of my life is up. That is a change I can live with! I wouldn’t trade in my family but I’m happy to trade in the extra calories I was mindlessly consuming without realizes it. I hope it works for you!

Love these plates, I’m ordering a couple right now! I *know* what the portions should be but plating them accordingly is a lot easier said than done!
