Shrove Tuesday is March 4th and all over the world families are sitting down to a big plate of pancakes! Yum! Have you ever wondered about the history of Shrove Tuesday? Kids love having breakfast for dinner and Shrove Tuesday is the kickoff for kids Easter FUN and the reason for the season is the rising of Christ from the tomb.
So to explain this holiday you 1st need to know that the word Shrove comes from the word “shrive” which means to confess or repent. So the idea is that you’d confess your sins before the Lenton season, which starts on Ash Wednesday, the day immediately following Shrove Tuesday. Historically certain foods were forbidden during Lent so just before the Lenton season starts families would sit down and stuff themselves with a meal containing fats, eggs, butter etc – Pancakes. This is the reason families all over feast with pancakes. In modern years many refer to the religious holiday as Pancake Tuesday.
Enjoy and be sure to remember the reason for the season! ☺

My family never noticed that the pancakes with 50% whole wheat. The taste was great and they received the nutrition of the eggs and fruit! Plus I purchased a breakfast syrup that does NOT contain high fructose corn syrup. It was quick, easy and delicious.
