Making it’s on-screen debut today is Call of the Wild starring Harrison Ford. This film was adopted from the amazing literary classic The Call of the Wild which like me, you probably still have on the shelf because it’s such a good read you can’t imagine passing it on to someone outside of your home. I had the pleasure of enjoying this 20th Century Fox Film at an advance screening and I’ve written a full review below.
The stage is set with a larger than life dog named Buck. Buck steals your heart from the minute you meet him…. full of life, living a fun care free existence until he’s stolen and sold to work on a dog sled team for men heading North hoping to strike it rich gold mining. Life in California is vastly different than in his new found pack in the northern territories of Alaska where play becomes a thing of the past and work takes up the majority of his day. As a rookie on the dog sled pack, Buck has many lessons to learn where you’ll find yourself cheering for him as you see him developing the wisdom that earns his place later in the movie as the new leader of the pack.
Through a serious on events that seem haphazard and random Buck meets John Thornton, played by Harrison Ford, where together their adventures and lives lead them to the greater wisdom only found from the call of the wild.
The photo-realism and technology in this movie are 1st class and I’d highly recommended purchasing a tickets, a bucket of popcorn and finding a seat for this classic re-make at your local theater! 5 stars with a brilliant performance by Harrison Ford along with kudos to the rest of the cast (especially the mail delivery team) making this movie a modern day classic you won’t want to miss!
