My kids absolutely LOVE Rice Krispy Treats so for Valentine’s Day we turned them into hearts for Valentine’s Day treats!
We always make a big deal out of all of the holidays in our home and Valentine’s Day is no different. We make food fun and I want the kids to remember that we can all have fun and that Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples. It’s for Valentine’s Day too!!!
Here are the easy directions to make these Rice Krispy Valentine’s Treats;
Ingredients:
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
- OR
- 4 cups Kraft marshmallows
- 6 cups Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® cereal
- Wilton Easy Grip Heart Shaped cutter
- Pink (or red) Wilton candy melts
Directions
1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Stir in food coloring (if desired). Remove from heat.
2. Add KELLOGG’S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.
3. Using butter spatula or your hand coated with a little butter or coconut oil press mixture into a cookie sheet pan coated with cooking spray, butter or coconut oil.
MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS
In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.
Now spread them out and use your Wilton Easy Grip Heart Shaped cutter to cut out your shapes (I use a cookie baking pan with low sides)
Melt your candy melts and then dip the corner of your heart Rice Krispy Treat into the melted Wilton candy melts. Place on a Reynold’s piece of Parchment paper to dry.
If you’re using them for a school party you may like to add candy sticks and place them inside a treat baggie. (if you don’t have a treat baggie you can cut the zipper part off of a Hefty zipper bag and then use a twist tie at the bottom
