Safeway Bargains, Safeway Coupons, A Lesson in Couponing for Groceries

I went shopping at Safeway yesterday in search of unadvertised bargains! I went with my 3 year old daughter…. We found the deals but it was slooooow going! Shopping with children isn’t fast! 😉 I did however manage a 92% savings! I also used my catalina coupon (spend $75.00 & get back $10.00 catalina ) this catalina was given out last 2 weeks. Meaning I only paid $3.69 out of pocket Woo Hoo!!! Lets chat about couponing and shopping as part of your frugal living plan!

Your Frugal Living plan for groceries!

Had a great shop at Safeway yesterday and found some nice bargains! I don’t have 92% savings every single week. Couponing has changed quite a bit over the past 2 weeks. It has become harder to find deal and the deals appear to me to be less frequent. I now strive for 50% savings (absolutely no less) on all shopping trip and 75% savings (or better) about 2 times per month. I also shop with 2 grocery stores. Now I don’t shop at 2 grocery stores every single week but about twice a month (sometimes more, sometimes less) I hit 2 grocery stores in a week. 1 grocery store is for my main shopping & then a second grocery store where I run in and just grab bargains that are at a rock bottom stock up price….. like my shopping trip yesterday at Safeway. It was fast and efficient. if you live near a Super Walmart or a Super Target store then you may be able to price match for several items and not go from store to store. Do you understand how that works? You simply take in the sale circular of your competitor (in full) and present it to the cashier at check out and tell them before they ring up (scan) the item that you plan to price match. You have to get an exact match to price match. I hope this helps with your frugal living plan! 😉

Ok – now onto my shop above! I did this in Easton Maryland. Here is what I did;

2 Natures Own Bread 55¢/1 coupon here (zip 77477, not sure if its still there this morning )Sale was buy 1 get 1 FREE (I used 2 coupons)
2 Ocean Spray juice $1./1 coupon Sale was buy 1 get 1 FREE
1 Gallon Water 99¢
1 Naturally Fresh Salad Dressing (see 55¢/1 coupon below in list) Sale was $2.00 each
2 boxes Yosicle $1./1 coupon here Sale is $2.99 a box (see all the Yosicle coupons below in list)
1 Kettle Chips $1./2 coupon here Sale is $3.49 or 2/$7
3 Suave Body Wash 75¢/1 coupon (I used 3 of them) Sale is $1.99 each making them just 49¢ each!
+ I used my $10 off Catalina coupon (available the last 2 weeks at Safeway stores when you spend $75)
= $3.69 – All I paid in the end!

Next – there is a new coupon book available at your Safeway. I found this one in Easton in the produce department. There are some nice manufacturer’s coupons inside including a coupon for $1.00 off Fresh Express!
