Have you purchased your Thanksgiving turkey yet? Well I want to tell you about turkey price in the Mid-Atlantic region for 2012 and give you some frugal living ideas while turkey prices are at their rock bottom lowest price!
- Safeway frozen turkey 59¢lb
- (some are getting a personalized price on the Safeway Just for U program for 49¢lb)
- ACME frozen turkey 59¢lb
- Giant 59¢lb
In my frugal living seminars I suggest everyone purchase 5 turkeys at this time of year!
Turkeys are at their lowest price of the entire year and if you purchase 5 frozen turkeys then you can cook 1 every months during all 5 cold months (Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, March). It will heat your home for the day, and if you buy the largest frozen turkey you can find (which is what I suggest) then you’ll be able to make soup, turkey pot pie, and all sort of other delicious leftover meals.
Frugal living involves advance planning your meals and this is a great way to get started! Who doesn’t love the smells of a turkey roasting in the oven when they walk in the door??? “Save the dinner” and keep your family at the table. Plan your turkey dinner on a day when you have plenty of time for cooking and then save your turkey soup for a night when you’ll be really busy and need to feed the family fast to get the kids to an activity. That is how meal planning works. Start making your life easier and avoid the dinner crunch! Stay tuned for my frugal living calendar and meal planning chart. Meal planning will help you;
- loose weight or maintain your weight
- Keep your family at the dinner table together
- reduce food waste
- reduce your overall grocery budget
- get rid of the crunch hour when you ask “What’s for dinner?”
