My family is BIG on frugal fun and we had an awesome hiking trip to Old Rag Mountain in the Shenandoah National Park! Check out my photos. We try and get outside as much as possible. I read some studies when kids recall their child hoods they mostly recall time outside verses time in your house. Pretty neat huh? And… when I went back and thought about my childhood I remember so many great events outdoors. My dad started taking me to hike Old Rag Mountain when I was very young and we made it annual event. My husbands parents spent their honeymoon week in the Shenandoah Mountains and now we’re passing that tradition along to our children. I tell them the same story every year when we go and I get the “I know mom, we’ve heard this one before” but I don’t ever want them to forget and hopefully, one day when they have kids, they will share some special outdoor event with their kids too! 😉
