Its no secret that I’m a home school mom. I’ve been home schooling since my oldest son was in 6th grade and he’s now in college.
Every family has to make their own decisions where education is concerned. I spent 7 years in a private school and then on to a public school and I turned out fine. I went on to college and I have a fairly rounded college education. I was fine in a traditional setting but not every kid is fine and the traditional school schedule doesn’t work for all families. One of the things I love about home school is that we get to pick our our “school calendar” each year and my family has a HUGE amount of flexibility. I really like that. When my kids have a big interest in a particular subject we embrace their thirst for information and delve further into the topic. We don’t have to move on because the class is moving onto the next topic. Its a decision my family made and every family has to make their own educational decisions that are best suited for their family.
We’re so excited about with our love affair with home schooling that we’ve sworn that my 2 youngest kids, ages 9 and 3, will never see the inside of a traditional school.
