New Year’s Resolutions for Moms
Another year is upon us, and I can hardly believe it! This year has gone by so quickly, and as a mom, this is the time of year when I pause and make up my own resolutions for the coming year. This year, I thought I would offer you, my dear readers, a printable checklist for your own “mommy resolutions.”
My Mom Resolutions for the Year 20____
- I will take time out each day, even for five minutes, to “check in” with each of my children about their day.
- I will make time each week for myself. Whether it is to get fit and more active, indulge in a good book, or enjoy a hobby, I realize that I need to take care of myself in order to be the best mom I can be!
- Being a good parent also means being a good partner – so making time for my significant other should be a priority. This doesn’t have to mean fancy dinners – date nights can be as simple as dollar menu meals eaten at the local park.
- When the house is a wreck and the laundry needs folded and the dishes haven’t been tackled, I will remember that my children won’t recall if the house was messy, but they’ll long remember that mommy took a half hour out of her day to read to them or play a boardgame.
- I’ll try to remember that my daily stressors should not affect my kids whenever possible. With that in mind, I’ll fuss less (no judgment here!) Stopping to count to ten and take a deep breath really does help.
- I’ll make more of an effort to be less hard on myself. As a busy mom, we all tend to do this, and all it does is drag is down.
- We will do more as a family – projects and fun things. This time of year, Amazon and Barnes and Noble always have sales on craft kits and other items that can be quick, fun activities for parents and kids to do together.
- I’ll do things to help my child build their confidence this year.
You will notice that I have left space for you to add two of your own resolutions that you find important. I would love to see what YOU find important as a busy parent, so please feel free to leave me a comment below with what resolutions you plan to add!
