2018 Disney Movie Release Schedule – A new year is upon us and when I begin to think about what I can plan for my family to keep them busy and entertained, one thing that immediately comes to mind is Disney. Disney and entertainment go hand in hand. With this schedule, I know that I’ll be able to find great new Disney films throughout the year to keep the kids happy (and the grown-ups too!)
One thing I find enjoyable about Disney films is that I enjoy them just as much as my children. And now that Disney has acquired Marvel, well my choices have doubled! Do I want animation, storybook princesses and happy endings or do I want superheroes embroiled in battle, fighting off evil and saving the day?
So what’s in store for us in 2018 from Disney? Have you heard rumors of popular movie sequels? I have and they turned out to be true! Check out the list of movies below and see which ones deserve a place of honor on your family calendar! (all of them in my humble opinion)
Black Panther – February 16th – Now that Disney has taken the Marvel Superheroes under its wing, you know that action and adventure will be part of this year’s movie watching plan. Black Panther arrives in a few weeks and is a follow up to Captain America: Civil War. It has a star studded cast and this will be Black Panther’s first big screen appearance. You won’t want to miss his debut!
A Wrinkle in Time – March 9th – There are a few films of a different variety coming out that look to be interesting for adults, as well as children. A Wrinkle in Time, based on the based on the best selling book by Madeleine L’Engle stars Mindy Kaling, Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon. It definitely has the talent to go far. We’ll be able to see this one soon.
Avengers: Infinity War opens – May 4 – Superhero fans will be thrilled to know they get to see every single one of Disney Marvel’s characters appear on the big screen together in this big screen action flick! Wow! Put this on your calendar and be prepared for the an epic superhero adventure.
Avengers: Infinity War – May 4th – An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
Solo: A Star Wars Story – May 25th – Star Wars is coming yet again, but this time in the form of Hans Solo’s early adventures. Watch as he gets to meet his future co-pilot Chewbacca! I’m sure there will be plenty of hype for this one, and a Star Wars movie IS a Star Wars movie so plan on getting in line early.
The Incredibles 2 – June 15th – It’s here! It’s here! And just in time for school’s out and summer fun! The Incredibles 2 is finally going to arrive in theaters after 14 long years! The storyline picks up where the first one left off, but now mom, Helen, is doing the crime fighting and Mr. Incredible is raising the kids and watching in wonder as baby Jack Jack displays some amazing superpowers of his own! This is a can’t miss event for The Incredibles lovers! Here’s a little sneak peak of what’s to come.
Ant Man and the Wasp – July 6th – opening in theaters for your summer viewing pleasure, Ant Man and the Wasp takes place after the events of “Captain America: Civil War”. The young ladies in your family will be excited to see the Lilly jump into the Wasp suit and flex her superhero muscle. Female heroes rock!
Christopher Robin – August 3rd – Take a sweet ride back to your childhood this summer with Winnie the Pooh and friends in Christopher Robin. This story doesn’t take place in the Hundred Acre Wood, but in the “real world” with a grown up Christopher Robin who comes back to ask his friends to help him find his way. I can’t imagine a movie with Winnie the Pooh being anything but heartwarming and just maybe the kids of today will fall in love with that silly old bear just like we did.
The Nutcracker and The Four Realms – November 2nd – the other film that is being released on this date may be more for the older children and not for the youngest viewers. The Nutcracker and Four Realms, due out just in time for the start of the holiday rush on and reviews have noted that it could be a little dark. This feature film takes place in a parallel universe that reminds one of Narnia. It is set in a magical world where young Clara needs to find a lost key to unlock a box from her mother. Take the older kids to do some shopping, get a bite to eat and take in this magical movie this fall.
Ralph Br
Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 – November 21st – Maybe we haven’t waited for over a decade Wreck-It Ralph 2, but five years is long enough for me. Watch as Ralph and Vanellope travel through the internet to find a piece to fix a video game. I guess that when you’ve conquered the world of video games, the World Wide Web is next! See it in theaters over that long Thanksgiving weekend!
Mary Poppins Returns – December 25th – I’m not sure how I feel about this one because it’s hard to repeat a classic, but Mary Poppins Returns starring Emily Blunt is being gifted to us on Christmas Day. This follow up to the 1964 movie takes us along as Mary helps a grown up Michael, his three children and Jane recover after a personal loss. It’s rumored that Emily Blunt’s singing will have you in tears. You’ll have to go and see this one just to find out if she does Mary Poppins justice. Julie Andrews is hard to top!
Disney entertains, it’s what they do! My family loves everything about Disney and we are definitely looking forward to all the great originals and much awaited sequels that will be coming our way this year. I am going to put the release dates on my calendar and get the popcorn ready! There’s nothing like a good movie to whisk you away!
