InvadR Is Coming! In the trapper’s village of New France in Bush Gardens, Williamsburg, Vikings will be invading! The new InvadR wooden coaster is set to open in the spring of 2017 and it’s something you don’t want to miss!
Imagine hurtling down a 74 foot drop and nine hills, all at 48 mph! Bold warriors, it’s time to defend your village! The InvadR, Busch Gardens’ first ever wooden roller coaster, uses centrifugal energy to create great airtime during your drop. And if 74 feet and 48 mph weren’t enough, the drop goes through a covered tunnel, another first at Busch Gardens Williamsburg! The tunnel goes approximately three quarters of the drop and gives riders a thrilling inside/outside/inside/outside perspective that will provoke screams of excitement!
The trains you ride in are ready and they are magical. The heads are carved to look like mythical dragons and are a beauty to behold. These trains were being used in Busch Gardens Tampa and have been recycled and completely refurbished from top to bottom to give you a smooth ride that is aesthetically pleasing. They have been inspected and are completely up to date with safety standards. There will be two complete trains, each one able to hold sixteen people comfortably.
The InvadR is 2000 feet long, flying under two tunnels and wrapping around the Le Scoot log flume. The boarding area will be in the Trapper’s Village in New France, playing into the storyline of the Vikings invading the village. The ride will bridge over the Busch Gardens railroad four times, interacting with other rides throughout the park. The height requirement on this wooden coaster is 46 inches, which is shorter than the restrictions for most other large coasters, meaning even younger fans can enjoy the attraction. Your five, six or seven year old will probably be able to ride this amazing ride with you, sharing the thrill of maybe their first major roller coaster ride ever!
Wooden roller coasters can be extra loud, but not the InvadR! The park has developed a system so that this wooden coaster makes much less noise than a regular wooden contraption. Also, if you are an observant rider, you will notice some areas are made of special Ipe wood, which is currently at the bottom of the first drop and the first curve. This special wood is naturally resistant to rot, abrasion and weathering. So much care and attention has been put into the InvadR to ensure you a great ride!
The InvadR is set to open in the spring of 2017, but Busch Gardens Williamsburg is having its season opening on March 25th! Come in to the park and enjoy all the sights, sounds and thrills that are offered, checking out the construction of the new InvadR so you’ll be familiar with it when it opens soon. You’ll want to return to Busch Gardens Williamsburg again and again this season to make the most of InvadR and the other attractions open this year.
