Kellogg’s Easter Rice Krispy Easter Nests
Make these bright, colorful Easter shapes for your little ones this Easter. These are really easy to make with little ones and oh so much fun!
Prep Time: 12-15 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
- OR
- 4 cups Kraft marshmallows
- 6 cups Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® cereal
- Brach’s jelly beans or M&M’s (we did a combination of each)
- Marshmallow chicks (Peeps)
- Green food color (optional)
- Bakers Coconut flake (optional)
Directions
1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Stir in food coloring (if desired). Remove from heat.
2. Add KELLOGG’S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.
3. Using butter spatula or your hand coated with a little butter or coconut oil press mixture cup cake pan coated with cooking spray, butter or coconut oil. Press in the center slightly for the “nest” eggs.
MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS
In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.
(Optional) Color some coconut flake
4) This is a fun addition but you can omit this if you think that no one in your house will like the coconut flake. (if you look at my picture I left out the coconut on one of my nests because I knew my onepicky eater wouldn’t eat it. If you do decide to make it its really easy. Just add several drops of green food coloring to the coconut flake then mix with a spook and kind of smash it into the coconut flake – not too hard but enough to get it mixed in well. Sprinkle onto the nests.
5) Add your eggs (jelly beans, M&M’s, Robin Eggs etc)
6) Add your Peep to the top, Enjoy!
