River Expeditions Day #1, Visit West Virginia – River Expeditions in Fayetteville, West Virginia is THE place to go for an action-packed family fun vacation. I have never felt so alive and as one with nature as I did on this amazing trip with my family! I needed a vacation from my vacation I think, but it was a breathtaking, beautiful place and we experienced one great adventure after the other.
Day one of our vacation had us arriving at River Expeditions and being welcomed and taken to our luxury cabin with a hot tub on the back porch (talk about happy!), a full kitchen and five bedrooms with two full baths – it was just heavenly. No stuffing into a small hotel room for this family and oh my goodness it was a wonderful start to the day! The kids were insanely excited about the accommodations….. This cabin had everything from all the kitchen ware you’d need for a family down to a brand new gas grill sitting on the back porch! River Expeditions is 4 to 6 hours from the DC Metro area (depending on where you live) so there was no running back home if the cabin was lacking anything. Relief! As a mom you’re never quite sure what to pack and what to expect when you hit the road but there were no disappointments for this mamma!
Time to explore the resort! There are all sorts of accommodations here including bungalows, hookups for RV’s and tent camping (plus luxury cabins of course). I really like a resort that offers accommodations for travels on all different budgets – that is important to me. Now that we have fallen in love with this place, if we come back next year we can invite friends and family and not worry about the differences between those on a low vacation budget or those that will never spend even one night in a tent – there are lodging options for ALL!
After we unpacked and explored the resort, my husband and son went straight to their first adventure, zip lining right on the resort property! What an exhilarating and exciting way to get started! They have a staff that offers instructions in safety to gets you all set up. I was amazed at the organization of such a large resort! My daughter and I loved watching them act like monkeys in the tree tops! Afterward we played a little horseshoes and some volleyball.
We ended our evening with a refreshing swim in the pool. Aaah, now that’s a great day! I loved walking around the well manicured grounds and seeing all of the beautiful flowers. It’s the small things we moms appreciate! Now we are ready for an early morning rise and shine to get ready for a day jam-packed with another adventure tomorrow!
Big thanks to River Expeditions for hosting our family and lining up everything for us. You can count on great customer service here when you book a family adventure. Sure, laying on the beach and doing nothing counts as a vacation, but the next time you are planning a get-away, think about doing something over the top and taking in beautiful sights while safely testing your limits. You won’t go wrong at River Expeditions! Stay tuned for Day 2 tomorrow!
