1st order/transaction
1 Pert Shampoo $4.00 (don’t forget to have the cashier scan your Extra Care Card 1st)
Pay $4.00 out of pocket and receive $4.00 in Extra Care Bucks

Helpful hint: To make this deal even better have a manufacturer coupon for the Pert Shampoo and MAKE MONEY on this deal! See how this all works! Ahhh We love it!
How do I “stack” coupons at CVS for additional savings?
You can “stack” coupons at CVS by using a CVS store coupon along with a manufacturer coupon on the same item. This is a great way to double your savings, obtain products for FREE and sometimes even make a little money on a deal! Do this every week and the savings just get bigger and better~!
How do I obtain CVS store coupons?
There are several different ways to obtain store coupons. First be sure to subscribe to CVS e-mails so store specials and coupons may be sent directly to your in-box. Second, always check your CRT (that is coupon lingo for Cash Register Tape). CVS will frequently place store coupons at the end of your cash register tape. Third, check with the CVS cashier and pharmacy department for store coupons. This year coupon books were offered at the pharmacy with influenza vaccines however there was “no purchase necessary” so if you simply asked for the coupon booklet you would receive one. Fourth, scan your CVS loyalty card at the red CVS in store coupon machine – usually located at the front of the store. CVS will print out special offers just for you like “magic.” There is no way to know what offers will be available until you scan your card. You can scan your card 4 times each day for different coupon offers from the “magic” coupon machine. Whenever we go into CVS we just scan it all 4 times as soon as we walk in.
Is it really possible to get items for FREE at CVS?
Absolutely! Frequently CVS offers a few (usually at least 1 at a minimum) items that give back 100% in CVS Extra Care Bucks. Hip hip!
Helpful hint:Check with us before shopping and we’ll keep you up to date on the items you can expect for FREE each week.
Absolutely! We do it almost every week! When an item is featured at CVS to return 100% back to you in Extra Care Bucks and you pair that sale with a manufacturer’s coupon you can make money. For example; Dove +Men Care was on sale for $5.49. When you purchased that item you would have received back $5.49 in ECB’s. If you would have paired that sale with the $1.25 coupon available in most Sunday papers in February 2010 you would have made a $1.25 profit on that item PLUS received the item completely FREE! Now that is a deal!
Does CVS offer any pharmacy discounts?
Sometimes CVS offers specials for transferring a prescription or filling a prescription. Just last week we received a coupon on our CRT (Cash Register Tape) for a $25.00 CVS gift card if we transferred a prescription.
Helpful hint: Always keep pharmacy discounts coupons on hand. You never know when you’ll need it for your kids with ear infections, poison ivy etc. This is another great way to save that most families overlook!
How can I check my Extra Care Bucks?
You can check your Extra Care Bucks account on line here.
Does CVS have an e-mail program to offer additional discounts?
Yes they do! Be sure to sign up for e-mails from CVS here and you’ll receive store coupons and learn about store special and promotions.
How do I use a buy 1 get 1 FREE coupon on a buy 1 get one FREE sale at CVS?
If you have a buy one get one free coupon and that week at CVS they are offering a buy 1 get 1 free sale then you are allowed to use 1 manufacturer coupon and get that item for FREE. You will be required to pay any sales tax your state may collect but hey – FREE is GOOD. CVS will not allow you to use a coupon on the item you are getting for free meaning – you cannot use 2 manufacturer coupons on a buy 1 get one free sale. Rite Aid does allow you to use a coupon on both items on a buy 1 get 1 free sale.
Correct use:
Prell Shampoo on sale b1g1 (1 cost $4.00)
Use 1 b1g1 coupon
= 2 FREE Prell Shampoo
Or
Correct use:
Prell Shampoo on sale b1g1
Use 2 coupons – $2/1 ($2.00 dollars off 1 Prell Shampoo)
= 2 FREE Prell Shampoo (1 coupon on the 1 Prell you are buying and 1 coupon on the 1 you are getting FREE)
How do I find out about items that generate back Extra Care Bucks at CVS?
You can find out which items offer ECB’s at CVS by checking back with us or you can check your weekly sale circular or check the on line CVS sale circular here.
When do my Extra Care Bucks expire?
Usually 4 weeks from the date they are issued. The expiration is written on the CRT (cash register tape) at the bottom.
What can I buy at CVS with my Extra Care Bucks?
Extra Care Bucks (ECB’s) are just like CVS cash. There are only a few exclusions; prescriptions, alcohol, gift cards, lottery, money orders, postage stamps, pre-paid cards and tobacco products. CVS will not allow you to pay the tax on a transaction with ECB’s.
Helpful hint: We like to purchase family food staples with our ECB’s like milk and eggs and bread. You may also like to use your ECB’s to purchase more items the following week and “roll” your Extra Care Bucks from week to week so you have little or no out of pocket costs. We do this each week with barely any out of pocket expense and are developing quite a stock pile for our family of 6!
Can I “roll” my Extra Care Bucks from week to week?
Yes you can! This is exactly what our family tries to do and it is a good way to decrease your out of pocket expenses from week to week and get lots of FREE goodies! So what we mean is use your ECB’s from one week to pay for your products for the next week. Do that each week and save save save!
What happens if I don’t use the full value of my Extra Care Bucks?
You will not receive change. (bad idea!)
Helpful hint: To always make the most of your ECB’s, be sure to spend just over the value of the ECB because CVS will not issue change to you.
Does CVS allow price matching with sale circulars from a competitor like Walgreens or Rite Aid?
No CVS does not allow price matching however Walmart and Target do allow price matching.
Is there anything else I need to know about CVS to save BIG?
Just know that Extra Care Bucks and CVS specials are attached to your specific savings card only. These cannot be transferred from card to card. So if you and your spouse take turns stopping by CVS each week like my family, make sure you each give the same phone number to make use of the same CVS Extra Care card.
If you and your spouse sign up for separate cards – use separate phone numbers, e-mails etc so you don’t get things confused. Some families prefer separate CVS Extra Care Cards so they can make use of the Extra Care Bucks each week that have a limit of number purchased allowed…. Like Gillette Shampoo one week may cost $4.50 and you get back $4.50 in ECB’s but there is a limit of only 2 allowed per card – you may like to use separate cards to double the savings.
Example:I just received a CRT (cash register tape) with a coupon on the bottom for a $25.00 gift card with a transferred prescription. If I need my spouse to pick up the prescription and get the gift card then he needs to give them the phone number for MY Extra Care Card. He cannot take in my coupon from the register receipt and have them scan HIS card – the register will beep and not allow the transaction. Just keep this in mind.
Helpful hint: CVS has a new “green reusable bag” program. For $.99 you purchase a bag tag that attaches to any reusable tote. The tag has a bar code on it. For every 4th time you scan your tag you’ll receive $1.00 in Extra Care Bucks. What a great way to save!
What days of the week does the CVS store start and stop their weekly promotion?
The sales start on Sunday when the store opens and ends the Saturday each week at the close of business.
