I love a sugar scrub (great for exfoliating) and this sugar scrub recipe makes a wonderful inexpensive homemade Christmas gift this season. So easy to make that I’m making these with my 3 year old so she can feel proud of the gifts too!
Sugar Scrub Recipe Ingredients:
- 4 – candy canes, crushed
- 2 cups – Domino Granulated Sugar
- 1 cup – light olive, canola or almond oil
- 6 drops – peppermint oil
- 5 drops camphor oil (gives it that refreshing feeling)
- 2 – 8 oz. decorative containers with lids
Instructions
Place candy canes into a food processor, and process for 30 seconds until ground into a fine powder. You should have 1/3 cup.
Place sugar in a bowl with crushed candy cane powder. Slowly incorporate oil until it becomes a thick paste. Add peppermint oil, camphor, mixing well. Transfer mix into containers and secure lids. Contents will settle; mix before using.
Scoop a teaspoon or two of the scrub in your hands, and gently massage in circular motions onto moist skin. Rinse well. Your skin will be smooth and soft!
Sugar scrubs are not recommended for the face. Avoid using on sensitive areas, in cuts or on skin that is irritated or sunburned.
Yields approximately 2 cups.
Caution: Be sure to clean your shower or bathtub thoroughly, as the oil in the scrub will cause surfaces to become slippery.
Quick Tip
Put a small amount of the scrub on the inside of your wrist to test for allergic reaction. You may substitute 1 teaspoon peppermint extract for the peppermint oil.

Hi i was wondering if you have to use camphor oil? I tried looking for it at shoppers drug mart and they suggested going to escents aromatherapy to purchase it but im not sure that they have it. Where can you find it? (I live in Canada btw)

Hi Daniella! I linked to it in the post to Amazon which is where I purchased mine but I just throw in the camphor because I like the cool feeling it leaves on the skin – it is NOT a necessary ingredient and will be completely fine without it! Enjoy! ☺

Thank you!! 🙂 also do we need to refrigerate the scrub?
